TMJ- The exact cause of the disorder is unknown. Some factors are related to an improper bite, injury, arthritis, severe stress, or a combination of factors. Clenching or grinding teeth, a condition called bruxism, may develop from stress or as part of a sleep disorder. This can tire muscles and create painful spasms, causing even more pain. Repeated muscle problems may affect the joints, resulting in tissue damage, muscle tenderness, and more spasm, perpetuating a cycle of pain.
Porcelain Veneers - You can have your dream smile! All of our Smile Makeovers are customized - you can select a design from our "Smile Catalog" and the shade, as well. Veneers are strong, life-like, and easy to do. Most cases are completed in two appointments.
Bonded Tooth Colored Restorations - We restore teeth to their natural form and function. Depending on the needs of a tooth, we place composite resin, ceramic inlays and onlays, ceramic crowns, and even non-metal bridges. The art of bonding, or "adhesive dentistry" demands the use of the Rubber Dam which creates a clean, isolated working area in the mouth. If you are considering treatment, find out more about the rubber dam.
Full Mouth Rehabilitation - In cases where the dentition is severly worn down, or when it has been determined that the existing bite is pathologic, it is often necessary to completely rebuild the bite. The all-important question of jaw position is answered by the principles of Neuromuscular Dentistry. The result is a comfortable, long-lasting, and beautiful dental rejuvenation.
Dental Implants - These are anchors that are placed under the gum tissue, and are used for a variety of reasons. Implants can replace missing teeth, as an alternative to bridgework, or can help secure a denture for better function and confidence.
Neuromuscular Dentistry - This field within dentistry focuses on finding a person's correct, healthy jaw position based on the concept of physiologic rest. When a bite is unhealthy, muscles will adapt often to the point of excessive stress and may result in painful spasm. Additionally, incorrect jaw posture due to malocclusion can adversely effect the jaw joints ("TMJ"), and even present as ear-related symptoms such as vertigo.
Soft Tissue Management - Did you know that the American Heart Association has defined a strong correlation between Periodontal Disease and Heart Disease? We are very serious about periodontal health, and incorporate "Evolutionary Hygiene" therapy in our practice. Treatment is comfortable and uses the most modern concepts of microsonic and ultrasonic cleaning, along with antimicrobial rinses, irrigation, and localized antibiotic therapy.
